Monthly Archive for December, 2006

THIS IS GOING TO ROCK

I was a little skeptical at first. The first trailer and some of the early shots were looking a little meh and messed up. But once I saw the new trailer I am totally psyched. Yes it’s going to be over the top, yes everything will blow up, and yes there will be shameless product plugs, but being a child of the 80s, this is going to blow my socks off. I had no idea the transformers were so violent.

More than meets the eye!

Nearing the End

So yea, I was going to make an actual effort to post at least once every 3 days for the month of December, but life got in the way. Work has been annoyingly busy. People said that during the holiday’s there is rarely stuff to do because people are out on vacation and leaving early, but not so this year. Also Bree was in town to visit last week so a lot of my time was spent hanging out with friends. I assume most of the world should know by now but Jess and Bree are engaged to be married next summer, so congratulations to them.  Next July/August time will be an exciting few weeks.

2006 is almost to a close, and I’m going to try to make a few “best of” posts. Keep an eye out for those. For now I’m busy working on a few sweet xmas gifts.

Fun with Google

There are some spiffy things you can do with google using current popular search results

GoogleFight lets you pit two searches against one another to see who wins.

Ohio State (101,000,000) vs Florida University (91,400,000)
Christmas (432,000,000) vs Hanukkah (13,700,000)
My Girlfriend (30,000,000) vs Pamela Anderson (13,700,000)
Pepsi (22,400,000) vs Coke (30,900,000)

try your own and see who wins!

Also a fun one is Google Suggest.  This is a built in search function for Firefox users, but if you start typing in a search entry, Google will use popular searches and present suggestions for what you might be searching for.

Is it true that …
… Ciara is a man?  … Giraffes cannot make a sound?  … you like to sleep alone?  … Jarule is dead?  … Jon Heder died?  … people have a sixth sense?

How to kill …
… a mockingbird?  … yourself?  … someone?  … a tree?  … a cat?

Does God …
… exist?  … play dice?  … love me?  … change his mind?  … answer prayers?

Do spiders …
… have teeth?  … hibernate?  … sleep?  … have ears?

Just a small insight to the thoughts of an average google searcher.  Another time waster, brought to you by the great google machine.

How Ironic

So I idle in some IRC rooms (kinda like chat rooms for those of you that don’t know) and a guy I know posted a comment his girlfriend made.

My gf was asking about the zune and when she heard that you can’t use songs you bought on the itunes store on the zune, she said “that’s completely stupid! why would people even buy something that doesn’t let you listen to your music?”

Now this is humerous for multiple reasons. But for the average consumer its a perfectly normal feeling. The reason us tech people “in the know” would find this funny, is because when you make your purchase of an itunes song, you are, at a basic level, locking yourself into how you can listen to your music. Only on a certain computer and only on Ipods. Only Ipods YOU own at that. It may be too complicated to explain in the short time I have allotted myself to post, but some of you may find the comment funny.
